The difference between information and data is also a point at which responsibilities and roles change from the Information Technology (IT) community to the User community. The IT community is ordinarily responsible for creating and maintaining an infrastructure of computers and networks, for running and administering systems, and for providing users with computer system output (i.e. information). Users are responsible for viewing, balancing, verifying, manipulating, sharing, filing, archiving, and taking advantage of information to guide decisions and take action.
Today’s C-level officers set standards for information usage and employee performance in order to determine the necessary level of automation, tools, and administrative support users will receive. These officers are also responsible for effective resource management including operational and IT personnel. Department managers and users are responsible for utilizing information effectively to the benefit and protection of their organization (e.g. cost reduction, efficiency, timeliness, improved customer service, security, privacy, risk avoidance). OCIE® Service is responsible for receiving IT outputs – information – from both internal and external sources and for furnishing users with tools to view, balance, verify, manipulate, share, file, archive and fulfill the objectives set forth by management. Traditional methods of distribution and archive transform this mass of information into an unmanageable blizzard. OCIE can eliminate the blizzard by archiving all originals in one place with fast, easy information access. < FIRST PAGE | PREVIOUS >
